Unity Lewis, also known as Young Precise, began performing, drawing, painting and making sculpture at the age of three. He started seriously recording music and founded the Napalm Clique, a rap group, in L.A. when he was 13 years old. In the Fall of 2000, Unity moved to the Bay Area where he completed his Bachelors degree in Fine Arts at the California College of the Arts. During his freshman year at CCA he was selling, promoting and performing his first independently produced album entitled “Fight.” Unity would release several projects on compact disk during his undergrad years, a few of which have since been rereleased digitally. After attending CCA, he began working on completing his teachers credential for single subject art and also his Masters in Education at Mills College. Since 2001, Unity has taught Hip-Hop, art and life skills in public schools across the Bay Area and on the island of Guam, where the Guam Legislature awarded him a Resolution for his contribution to students’ lives in 2005. However, In 2007 Unity decided to leave Mills College and focus on creating, releasing and performing his own art and music full time.

In 2011, Unity released “Audio VeVe Part 1” digitally through SoundVise/ Fontana/ Universal Music Group Distribution. Produced by Bay Area production crew Organized Elements, Audio VeVe Pt.1 is a sonic onslaught aimed at societal ills, and appropriately features Stic.Man of Dead Prez, Oakland based MC Sandman and Sacramento emcee Ms. Marvaless. A video component for every song was also released for this project, along with a 20 page full color digital comic book that Unity illustrated, which comes free with the download of the EP on iTunes. In 2012, Unity was able to collaborate with the legendary artist and musician George Clinton as well as the P-Funk All Stars and Sly Stone, over production by Egon Brainparts to create a Hip-Hop Electro Funk masterpiece entitled “7th Dynasty.” In 2016, this project was released on CD and digitally through Unity’s website only. Currently, Unity is in the process of lining up a digital re-release of 7th Dynasty, along with several other singles, Maxi-Singles, EP’s and LPs due to drop this year through all online music retailers, including AppleMusic, Amazon, Spotify and Tidal. The ‘Cold Game’ Maxi-Single featuring Rappin’ 4-Tay is the first project to be released from this 2017 onslaught.

Unity comes from a long line of freedom fighters and educators. His grandmother is Dr Samella Lewis, revered author, professor, and activist. His mother Sita Kali Ma’at is a yogi, shaman and a jazz/ soul singer. His father Jah-Eye is a Rastafarian and a Reggae artist. Both raised him with a deep knowledge of self. Unity views himself and his music as conscious, and active in making change for the upliftment of humanity on all levels.
